General Purpose

Conduct analysis, create system specifications, develop, test and implement engineering, scientific, and business applications, operating systems, and file/database servers. Utilize existing or new technology in the automation of processes. Evaluate software packages and provide recommendations to management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent diagnosis, analysis, modeling, and repair of system issues in a rotating 24 x 7 on-call capacity. 
  • Perform the analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of real time energy management (EMS) applications. 
  • Formulate and define specifications for real-time applications in a multi-platform environment.
  • Modify/maintain the EMS software releases, custom functions, interfaces, and reports. 
  • Consult with the business on new functionality and enhancements to their systems.
  • Responsible for quality assurance and the evaluation of new and existing software products.
  • Act as the project lead for deploying new application functionality.
  • Coordinate the problem resolution process for systems, network, database, and application issues.
  • Work with other companies and entities to ensure that PacifiCorp meets their system requirements. 
  • Resolve complex errors and conflicts in the database.
  • Develop operational scenarios to be used for training purposes.
  • Provide input and recommendations regarding new technologies and system solutions for meeting business needs. 

In Addition, Responsibilities for the Senior Level Include:

  • Formulate and define specifications for real-time applications in a multi-platform environment.

  • Resolve complex errors and conflicts in the database.
  • Develop operational scenarios to be used for training purposes.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • A minimum of three years experience in software development, system development, and programming. 
  • Technical knowledge of all phases of software systems programming applications. 
  • Experience in working with vendor software solutions.  
  • Knowledge of current technologies, tools, applications, and vendors.
  • Project management skills, ability to develop and monitor work agreements and budgets, and to determine specifications, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Understanding of company’s existing IT environment and of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of real-time database management methods (RTDB), PI, and experience with Oracle. 
  • Ability to research and solve complex problems independently.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Communication and interpersonal skills for consulting with users to understand needs, define requirements, and provide effective solutions.

 

In Addition, Requirements for the Senior Level include:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in software development, system development, and programming.
  • Strong technical knowledge of all phases of software systems programming applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary.
