veterinarian assistant

Veterinarians help animals live safe, long lives. However, much of the work that is done at the vet’s office or animal hospital is thanks to veterinary assistants. They help comfort animals, prepare them for exams, and offer triage services. If you visit any well-run veterinarian office, chances are you have a vet assistant to thank for that.

Whenever you sit down to write a cover letter, do remember the above. Your letter should clearly communicate all the value you can bring to the workplace and contextualize some of the skills, mentioned on your resume.

This post provides a compelling veterinarian assistant cover letter sample you can use as an inspiration for writing, followed by several customization tips.

how to act when layoffs announced

Understandably this is a distressing event and one that can be emotional. It is important to think practically and work through the details.

Try Not to Panic

Layoffs are a business decision and not an unusual event. However, it may be for you, and you most likely have questions. It is normal to feel stressed, so take some time to process the information and what it means for you. Check in on colleagues, and don’t feel you need to take immediate action. Take a moment to process the information.

Read The Email in Detail

In particular, understand the reason for the layoffs and determine the likelihood of impact on your role. These decisions are usually made due to financial or structural decisions. Consider how many people might be impacted. Note the timeline of events so you can do your best to plan accordingly if you are laid off. Consider if the company will provide additional support to former employees and if there are options to start to look for other work in preparation.…

do I still need a resume

In an unscientific survey of well over 100 job postings in late 2022 and early 2023, I don’t recall any that did not require the applicant to submit a resume or their LinkedIn profile, or both.

Each week, we answer your most burning questions about job search, interviews, and career. Have a question for an HR but haven’t had the chance or courage to ask? Just tweet it to @freesumes with the hashtag #AskAnHR and we might feature your question and your tweet in our next edition.

I recommend continuing to submit your resume for the simple reason that you can and should adapt it to individual job postings so that you maximize matching your unique qualifications to the requirements of each job.  Resumes targeted at specific roles as marketing tools are more likely to succeed in landing you an interview.  Most LinkedIn profiles are rather static and not updated as frequently.  Your resume is much more adaptable to those instances in which your standard version does not exactly match certain desired opportunities.…

red flags in toxic organization

It might not be obvious from the outset if your new organisation is a good fit or has a thriving culture. However, there are some signs to look for to determine if the working environment is toxic.

Each week, we answer your most burning questions about job search, interviews, and career. Have a question for an HR but haven’t had the chance or courage to ask? Just tweet it to @freesumes with the hashtag #AskAnHR and we might feature your question and your tweet in our next edition.

Employees don’t speak well of their team, manager, or the organisation

If you listen carefully, employees will tell you if the organisation is toxic. A few negative or disgruntled people are normal, but if you hear the same comments from many people, there could be a problem. Complaints in a dysfunctional workplace include a lack of overall direction, no support, burnout, or poor management.

Lack of shared purpose

If you are not clear on the purpose of the organisation or what they are trying to achieve short or long term it is hard to be motivated.…
