General Purpose
This position is responsible for all facets of the planning and coordination of all bulk electric system (BES) outages, which includes associated equipment or schemes associated with the operation of the BES.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning and coordination of outages on all BES elements for the PACE and PACW BAA’s including all capital and maintenance projects that require outages to be placed into service or have equipment taken out of service.
- Provide oversight to the Area/Transmission Planners that are assigned to the Outage Coordination Office.
- Oversee the coordination of outages with our interconnection customers, Energy Supply Management, Transmission Services, PacifiCorp project managers, and the Peak Reliability Coordinator.
- Provide insight and operational guidance to the grid operations shift supervisors and grid operators in real-time.
- Organize and maintain the Coordinated Outage Management, Planning and
Scheduling System (“COMPASS”) database. - Assist in the development and maintenance of grid operations PCC procedures and other operating guidelines.
- Assist with the development of complex switching procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in distribution and dispatch operations, or a related field performing the duties of this position.
- NERC Certified System Operator, Balance, Interchange & Transmission [B.I.T] certification, at a minimum.
- Demonstrated knowledge of established operational practices and procedures for utility transmission and distribution systems with emphasis on dispatching and outage management.
- Project management skills including the ability to work as a team member, develop and implement training schedules and timelines, and deliver on commitments.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate team efforts, provide guidance and direction to team members.
- Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing and presentation applications to compile, maintain, and present information.
Preferences
- Previous experience as a System Operator / Dispatcher or an Operations Planner/Engineer.
- Knowledge of the company’s strategic plan, objectives for specific area, as well as company policies, procedures, and practices and federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations
