Responsibilities
A hydro plant mechanic is a journeyman mechanic who repairs, maintains and upgrades all types of mechanical and associated equipment and facilities in a hydro generating station.
Requirements
- Plan and direct maintenance activities for hydro plant outages
- Operate equipment
- Arc and gas weld power plant components and perform specialized work as a welder
- Repair turbines and bearing systems
- Add or replace packing as required
- Repair and maintain governor and lubrication oil systems
- Repair and upgrade cooling water systems
- Repair hydro conveyance systems
- Perform machining, equipment alignment and precision work
- Repair and upgrade turbine and generator auxiliary systems
- Perform repair and maintenance of hydro plant facilities including repair and construction of roads, trails, bridges, mixing and pouring of concrete, etc.
