General Purpose
Provides consultation to the BHE Chief Security Officer (CSO) regarding emerging national and global cyber security threats and mitigation tactics specific to Operational Technologies and supporting networks used by BHE affiliates. Represents the CSO in advising OT leaders on security practices. Provides direction on security requirements for OT technology related projects and coordinates with business operations for advanced security analytics to aid in detecting and mitigating digital network intrusions by comparing and correlating BHE data with externally-furnished information.
Responsibilities
- Represent the office of the Chief Security Officer in evaluating relevant technology initiatives and projects for operational technology and process control systems to determine advanced cybersecurity requirements and controls necessary to comply with company policies, standards and industry best practices.
- Provide direction, consultation, and collaboration to BHE affiliates on integrating BHE cyber security requirements for all relevant operational technologies and services.
- Consult with CSO and global security operations on operational technology security analytics across BHE affiliates.
- Provide direction, consultation, and collaboration with BHE affiliates in establishing and maintaining cyber security performance metrics or for operational technology environments.
- Consult with CSO on security policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Provide direction, consultation, and collaboration with BHE affiliates in establishing, maintaining, and expanding ISO 27001/27019 certification for all company industrial control systems requirements.
- Oversee security threat intelligence translation to industrial control systems and coordinate with Berkshire Hathaway Energy organizations in response to classified and unclassified cyber threat reporting.
- Maintain an awareness of geographic location and type of energy facilities for which pertinent security information will be reported.
- Provide timely and accurate cross-platform support in response to security threats that may arise that pose a risk to systems across the company’s computing enterprise.
- Select, coach, and develop employees.
- Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews.
- Manage staff as needed to meet given responsibilities.
- Performs any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, cyber security, computer science, or related technical field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in Security Information and Event Management with associated incident response experience.
- A minimum of ten years information risk and security governance programs, e.g., ISO 27001 and NIST 800-53.
- Expert knowledge of security principles is desired through achievement of advanced security certification including CISM or CISSP.
- Deep familiarity with the Top 20 Security Controls from the Center for Internet Security
- Advanced experience in intelligence management, security technologies and corporate security topics.
- Data management skills using programming languages such as PERL as well as open source security tools such as SNARE, SNORT, etc.
- Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective leadership skills to provide technical coaching, training to assist and develop indirect reports
- Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance of Secret classification or higher.
