General Purpose

The manager, applications development is responsible for the suite of complex computer applications. The manager will manage directly and indirectly application developers so the needs of the business unit are met timely with application technology.

Responsibilities

• Leads the evaluation of user requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current systems and computer capabilities. Consults with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. (25%)
• Manages teams in the cost estimation, design, coding, testing, documenting, implementation and maintenance of a suite of complex application programs. (20%)
• Verifies the quality of advanced system analysis and design functions. (15%)
• Manages staff in research and fact-finding to develop or modify application programs. Includes negotiating with vendors to review quality, adaptability and compatibility of their products and levels of service they provide to the company.
