General Purpose

Oversees the maintenance and expansion of PacifiCorp’s Advanced Weather Forecasting and Situational Awareness programs in support of the company’s Wildfire Mitigation Plans. Serves as the primary contact for meteorological information needed within the business. Oversees a wide range of meteorological data to provide continuously updated weather information from a variety of sources to better manage the impacts of weather on the electric distribution and transmission system to identified vulnerabilities. Oversees daily, weekly, and long term seasonal weather forecasts products, advisories, and warnings concerning a number of hazardous weather conditions, such as severe weather, fire danger, high winds, flash floods, and winter storms to support T&D system operations and generation operations.  Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and responsible for management of employee salaries.

•    Develop and maintain the annual budget to support staffing, operational, and technology requirements for a 7/24 hour wildfire operations center.

General Purpose

Establishes and implements business objectives, strategies, and plans pertinent to Wildfire Mitigation across all of PacifiCorp’s 6 states. Implements and supports Company programs and policies to facilitate delivery of Wildfire Mitigation Plans.   

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and delivery of PacifiCorp’s Wildfire Mitigation Plans and regulatory filings across all of PacifiCorp’s six states. 
  • Work cross functionally with other departments, managers, and directors to deliver all components of the Wildfire Mitigation Plans. 
  • Compile relevant datasets and program elements to create and file quarterly or annual compliance reports per state specific regulatory requirements. 
  • Define scope and develop new policies, processes, tools, and training material to implement existing or new wildfire mitigation programs and ensure timely and quality delivery of Wildfire Mitigation Plans. 
  • Consistent with corporate governance, direct and oversee on-going and new T&D wildfire mitigation programs such as weather preventative maintenance, enhanced Infra-red inspections, and fuse replacements, ensuring adequate tracking aligned with regulatory and compliance requirements.

A Utility specialist is a qualified employee who shall perform work mutually agreed to by the Company and Union. Duties typically assigned to the Utility Specialist are Collections/Connects/Disconnects/Removal; Replacement or exchange of single-phase self-contained meters; locates; pole test and treat; Joint Use Coordination; Equipment Operation and others as agreed to by the Company and Union. The Utility Specialist may be required to hold a Commercial Driving license as dictated by the assigned duties and pass minimum qualification requirements as mutually agreed to by the Company and the Union. The Utility Specialist with proper training may be assigned to drive or operate equipment, as follows:

 

  • Pick-up, 6-person capacit
  • Trucks, one and one-half (1 ½)
  • Line Trucks (Boom Trucks)
  • Trucks hauling poles, material or towing a trailer (except hot line tool trailer)
  • Trucks with hydraulic/electric personnel lift equipment
  • Hole Digger
  • Backhoe
