Pacific Power’s Klamath Area has an opening for a journeyman lineman to join their team located in Klamath Falls, OR (Oregon’s City of Sunshine.)  The district covers approximately 3,440 square miles in both Oregon and California.  Work includes new installations, maintenance and troubleshooting on transmission and distribution electrical systems overhead and some underground.  The Klamath Area is home to Crater Lake National Park, Lava Beds National monument, numerous wildlife refuges, and the largest body of freshwater by surface area in Oregon.  If you like hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities, meet the requirements below and want to join a professional hard working team, please submit your application.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Requirements

 

  • A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through IBEW Local 659.
  • Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
  • Must meet examining board review of skills and experience.
  • Candidate must have formal hot stick training and experience.
  • Must own, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.

17.2.4 A Journeyman shall have had at least three years’ experience or equivalent related training, and shall be qualified in one of the following branches of the trade: (a) Line Construction and Maintenance; (b) Station and Substation Construction and Maintenance includes but not limited to: Journeyman Station Wireman and Journeyman Station Meter & Relay Technician; (c) Meter Installation, Testing and Maintenance; (d) Underground Construction and Maintenance; (e) Communications Construction and Maintenance and (f) Estimating.

As a Journeyman Lineman you will install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, while utilizing line trucks, aerial boom, lifts and wire pulling equipment.  Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, hot sticking, and  working out of truck mounted bucket lifts to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice and sag wire on live or dead circuits.

General Purpose

 

A Utility specialist is a qualified employee who shall perform work mutually agreed to by the Company and Union. Duties typically assigned to the Utility Specialist are Collections/Connects/Disconnects/Removal; Replacement or exchange of single-phase self-contained meters; locates; pole test and treat; Joint Use Coordination; Equipment Operation and others as agreed to by the Company and Union. The Utility Specialist may be required to hold a Commercial Driving license as dictated by the assigned duties and pass minimum qualification requirements as mutually agreed to by the Company and the Union. The Utility Specialist with proper training may be assigned to drive or operate equipment, as follows:
