General Purpose

Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the company’s generation, transmission, distribution, telecommunication, or other utility facilities/systems.

Responsibilities

  • Apply system analysis and planning skill set to promote the advent of new planning processes, either developing or utilizing advanced planning tools and methods.
  • Evaluate and recommend planning policy and field design protocols  for PacifiCorp based on a variety of methods including application of sensitivity tests, engineering knowledge, business case development and awareness of industry best practices.
  • Lead the conception of optimized planning processes leveraging existing and new tools and large datasets applying scripting or programming as needed
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, process, or facilities to support company objectives, utilizing engineering methods.
  • Develop highly complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.

Oregon Wave Energy Center Gets $40 Million for Test Facility

Oregon State University’s (OSU’s) Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center (NNMREC) was awarded up to $ 40 million by the Department of Energy (DOE) on December 21 to create what the center calls the world’s premier wave energy test facility in Newport, Ore.

The NNMREC facility, known as the Pacific Marine Energy Center South Energy Test Site, is planned to be operational by 2020. It will be able to test wave energy converters that harness the energy of ocean waves and turn it into electricity. Companies around the world are already anticipating construction of the new facility to test and perfect their technologies, OSU officials say.
