General Purpose

Develop engineering documents, plans, and specifications associated with the design, operation, and maintenance of company SCADA systems used for the monitoring and control of the company’s expansive electric grid.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the SCADA design of RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) architectures and systems to support numerous grid-connected initiatives and projects, including the creation and modifications to RTU designs, configurations, and points list implementations.
  • Coordinate with various engineering disciplines, project engineers/managers, and customer representatives to finalize SCADA point lists based on anticipated requirements. 
  • Work with database analysts, business system analysts, and advanced application teams to ensure the remote data requirements are completely and accurately implemented into the OSI Monarch EMS/SCADA system.
  • Develop complete SCADA designs utilizing standardized engineering methods.
  • Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of systems, processes, or facilities to support company objectives utilizing engineering methods.

A Journeyman shall have had at least three years’ experience or equivalent related training, and shall be qualified in one of the following branches of the trade: (a) Line Construction and Maintenance; (b) Station and Substation Construction and Maintenance includes but not limited to: Journeyman Station Wireman and Journeyman Station Meter & Relay Technician; (c) Meter Installation, Testing and Maintenance; (d) Underground Construction and Maintenance; (e) Communications Construction and Maintenance and (f) Estimating.

Responsibilities

 

As a Journeyman Lineman you will install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, while utilizing line trucks, aerial boom, lifts and wire pulling equipment.  Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, hot sticking, and  working out of truck mounted bucket lifts to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice and sag wire on live or dead circuits.

Evaluate current and future day Resource Operations Plan and make data driven decisions to adjust the resource plan to accommodate system requirements, ensuring reliable load service. Evaluate market solutions provided by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) Energy Imbalance Market (EIM). Execute the plans within the constraints of real-time system conditions. Validate accuracy of load and variable energy resource (VER) forecasts, and efficiently dispatch system generation resources to balance the electric system and deliver the lowest net power cost solution to stakeholders.

This position is also responsible for the creation of an audit trail to ensure processes are followed and for use in regulatory procedures.
