A System Operator is a qualified Journeyman or non-journeyman meeting the pre-qualifications in Section 14.2.9 and who has successfully completed the System Operator training program.

A System Operator Trainee is expected to move through the training program established by the JQC within the timeline established by the committee.

System Operators are trained, certified and responsible for ensuring operations adhere to relevant Federal safe work practices (OSHA 1910.269), Union/Company accident prevention manuals and critical infrastructure protection (NERC) and standards of conduct (FERC) regulation.

Performs fault location, isolation, and load restoration techniques and the communication therein to ensure safe and reliable power delivery.
