Responsibilities

 

A Journeyman Estimator is an employee qualified to perform all estimating functions by training as a Journeyman Estimator Apprentice or equivalent education and experience. They shall have an intermediate knowledge of electrical theory and practice, and a detailed knowledge of construction specifications, electrical codes, and rate and service policies. They may make field surveys, prepare right-of-way permits, crossing and conflict documents, expenditure requisitions and related papers and assists in the preparation of district annual budgets as assigned.

Requirements

 

  • A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a Estimator apprenticeship program or equivalent education and experience.
  • Candidate must have a basic knowledge of electric theory and operations and a thorough knowledge of construction specifications, electrical codes, mapping systems and line extension policies and tariffs.
  • Successfully pass the Estimator exam within 6 months from start date.

General Purpose

 

An Apprentice Qualified Estimator is a position designed to prepare the applicant for a 3 year Estimator apprenticeship and, ultimately, into a position as a Journeyman Estimator.  The Apprentice Qualified Estimator will hold the position for a minimum of 6 months up to a maximum of 2 years “(current expectation is 12 months but can change depending on the needs of the company)”.

 

Successful completion of the Apprentice Qualified Estimator program will qualify the employee for an Estimator apprenticeship at a location to be selected by PacifiCorp (the Company) within Oregon.

 

The apprentice program is designed to teach a candidate aspect of an Estimators work. As a Journeyman Estimator you will prepare cost estimates using engineered standards, right-of-way permits, and other job-related paper work pertaining to distribution construction and maintenance. The Estimator will prepare expenditure requisitions, OMS Maps, contracts for line extension, right-of-way permits, FPI paperwork, joint use coordination, meet with external customers on construction sites to design distribution line extensions, work with area engineer to design Capital improvement work for distribution system.

Is qualified to perform all estimating functions related to building, re-building and maintaining company electric facilities. General Purpose

A Utility specialist is a qualified employee who shall perform work mutually agreed to by the Company and Union. Duties typically assigned to the Utility Specialist are Collections/Connects/Disconnects/Removal; Replacement or exchange of single-phase self-contained meters; locates; pole test and treat; Joint Use Coordination; Equipment Operation and others as agreed to by the Company and Union. The Utility Specialist may be required to hold a Commercial Driving license as dictated by the assigned duties and pass minimum qualification requirements as mutually agreed to by the Company and the Union. The Utility Specialist with proper training may be assigned to drive or operate equipment, as follows:

 

  1.  Pick-up, 6-person capacity
  2. Trucks, one and one-half (1 ½)
  3. Line Trucks (Boom Trucks)
  4. Trucks hauling poles, material or towing a trailer (except hot line tool trailer)
  5. Trucks with hydraulic/electric personnel lift equipment
  6. Hole Digger
  7. Backhoe
  8. Track-type vehicles (snow-cats)
  9. Truck or trailer mounted wire pullers
  10. Jackhammer

Responsibilities

 

The Utility Specialist/Pre-Apprentice Estimator will perform labor necessary to assist with the installing, maintaining, repairing and/or operating Company equipment and facilities.
