General Purpose

Provides technical leadership on the most complex and business critical transmission engineering projects. Facilitates internal training for transmission line design engineers and technicians. Develops presentations for senior management and recommends and implements process improvements to benefit the company. Develops engineering plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company’s transmission, distribution, telecommunication facilities/systems.

Responsibilities

Independently conduct highly complex engineering research studies and technical analyses in areas of transmission line design not commonly available or obtainable in the competitive engineering market.
Provide technical oversight and guidance to all engineering staff.
Lead project teams in the development of critical engineering solutions.
Provide technical expertise for critical plant and/or facility components.
Serve as the Company expert in transmission line design and provide authoritative consultation and recommendations to senior management.

Provide advice and counsel to management and client organizations. Conduct special contract reviews and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Research, analyze, develop and implement new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions and in response to changing regulatory and reliability requirements. Manage projects and processes required to deliver customer projects that require action by PacifiCorp. Negotiate network customer contracts both new and revisions to existing. General Purpose

This position is responsible for providing guidance and support for transmission system operations with a focus on reliability and represents PacifiCorp on various regional public power boards, such as North American Electric Reliability Corporation (“NERC”), North American Energy Standards Board (“NAESB”), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (“WECC”), Western Power Pool (“WPP”), California ISO (“CAISO”), and Southwest Power Pool (“SWPP”).

Responsibilities

Assist on a day-to-day basis with operational issues and merchant interfaces. This includes database programs (EAS, CAS, and Endur), the energy management system (Monarch), compliance with control performance standards (CPS), and disturbance control recovery.
Provide operational support as requested for network customer issues contractual input from an operational perspective, and act as the backup administrator function for the Open Access Same-Time Information System (OASIS).
Communicate and collaborate closely with the reliability coordinator on matters associated with transmission reliability.
