General Purpose

Manages the day-to-day distribution system planning, reliability, customer interconnection system impact studies, 24/7 outage response and wildfire risk mitigation of a geographic territory that has a significant impact on corporate, business unit, or organizational objectives. Establishes and implements business objectives, strategies, and plans. Manages and allocates financial and employee resources. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and responsible for management of employee evaluation and salaries. Creates, implements and supports Company programs and policies related to the distribution system. Responsible for establishment and adherence to department budget.

Responsibilities

Apply engineering principles to support the Company’s distribution operations, including technical studies, distribution grid system planning and troubleshooting capital project proposals, wildfire risk mitigation and 24/7 outage response.
Provide excellent customer service by overseeing the production of rapid and accurate load and generation interconnection studies, power quality and outage investigations, outage restoration solutions and arc flash/motor start analyses.

General Purpose

The Real-Time Market Transmission Operations Adviser will provide subject matter expertise to PacifiCorp System Operations in regional strategy and policy recommendations related to energy market activities including the real-time energy and day-ahead market operations. Oversee development of plans, specifications/requirements, design documents and performance assessments associated with real-time energy and day-ahead markets. Act as a liaison with internal business units to ensure PacifiCorp coordination is achieved in market-related stakeholder activities.

Responsibilities

Plan and manage the work of the functional group. Lead projects and initiatives
Lead the functional team; direct day-to-day activities, and provide guidance and recommendations
Plan, analyze, design, and support projects enabling PacifiCorp real-time energy and day-ahead markets continued participation/integration in market initiatives, new adjacent entities, market model/design corrections, and market expansion initiatives
Oversee and manage all Balancing Authority Area market tools, as well as procedures utilized in real-time operations
Act as a SME in the market stakeholder processes and/or other market related initiatives which relate to, or directly impact PacifiCorp System Operations
Collaborate with PacifiCorp Energy Grid Operations (EGO) desk in identifying, analyzing, and resolving real-time issues, real-time projects, and event cutovers
Identify and coordinate changes needed to accommodate market enhancement releases and integration for new real-time energy and day-ahead market entities, specifically focused on the areas of interchange schedule submission and intertie representation in real-time energy and day-ahead markets
Partner and collaborate with other PacifiCorp business units to manage change through stakeholder processes, development of design documents, and implementation of processes and procedures
Participate on various advisory committees and task forces on behalf of PacifiCorp System Operations interests, to stay abreast of current reliability and market issues providing input and recommendations
Provide input into team employee performance reviews.

Works alongside senior leadership to develop tools and analysis and inform the future of data driven decisions. Develops presentations for senior management and recommends and implements changes to meet company goals. Supports long term grid planning, load forecasting, and compilation of regulatory reporting. Summarizes and explains data and analysis for use in outreach and reporting and participate in discussions with internal/external stakeholders around DSP data needs, reports, and baseline information (data about all of Pacific Power’s distribution feeders, substations, and infrastructure). Contributes to internal training for engineers and technicians in subject area.
