General Purpose

Provides professional accounting services utilizing U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts. Activities include interpretation and application of accounting and capitalization policies, including those issued by governmental and regulatory bodies; analysis of construction project costs, including removal costs; preparation and maintenance of fixed asset records; and external and ad hoc financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fixed assets/general accounting and month-end close activities through the preparation and processing of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts and support of internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance requirements.
  • Compile, analyze and interpret asset construction costs to determine if capital or expense in nature and allocate capital costs to final asset records created in PacifiCorp’s fixed asset subsidiary ledger.
  • Create, retire and transfer fixed assets records and maintain continuing property records in accordance with the requirements of the FERC’s Uniform System of Accounts.

When it comes to the work world, appearance has quite a bit of meaning. After all, most people judge others based on looks without even realizing it. That’s how our mental biases work. That said, there is no way to truly judge if that man riding a motorcycle is a careless miscreant, or if the man wearing a 3 piece suit in the middle of the day is truly a professional. 

We tend to judge those around us based on how we feel that the person in the position they appear to be in should be. This can go as extreme as seeing a person wearing bright and colorful clothing and thinking that they work with children, to as mild as seeing a teenager who just happened to dye a portion of their hair purple and assuming that they are goth.

Develop engineering documents, plans, and specifications associated with the design, operation, and maintenance of company SCADA systems used for the monitoring and control of the company’s expansive electric grid.

Responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Assist in the SCADA design of RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) architectures and systems to support numerous grid-connected initiatives and projects, including the creation and modifications to RTU designs, configurations, and points list implementations.
