General Purpose
A Utility specialist is a qualified employee who shall perform work mutually agreed to by the Company and Union. Duties typically assigned to the Utility Specialist are Collections/Connects/Disconnects/Removal; Replacement or exchange of single-phase self-contained meters; Equipment Operation and others as agreed to by the Company and Union. The Utility Specialist may be required to hold a Commercial Driving license as dictated by the assigned duties and pass minimum qualification requirements as mutually agreed to by the Company and the Union. The Utility Specialist with proper training may be assigned to drive or operate equipment, as follows:
- Pick-up, 6-person capacity
- Trucks, one and one-half (1 ½)
- Line Trucks (Boom Trucks);4. Trucks hauling poles, material or towing a trailer (except hot line tool trailer)
- Trucks with hydraulic/electric personnel lift equipment
- Hole Digger
- Backhoe
- Track-type vehicles (snow-cats)
- Truck or trailer mounted wire pullers
- Jackhammer
Responsibilities
- Meter reading,
- Keep all vehicles clean and stocked, flagging, and crew support including but not limited to after-hours/storm work.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- NJATC or NCRC certification with a score of 4 or more
- Current CDL or ability to get one within 6 months of start date
