General Purpose

Responsible for leading a functional team that performs integration, scheduling, monitoring, problem resolution, and output control of applications in a multi-platform, 24×7 data center operations environment. Participates in the integration and maintenance of automation procedures and assists in analyzing existing and new production applications to insure schedule and procedural efficiencies.  Performs processing analysis related to effective utilization and efficient, accurate, and timely computer processing based upon production application resource consumption behaviors including the identification and resolution of service-level problems and mission-critical tasks. This role will be responsible for supporting all US-based BHE platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a functional team by directing day-to-day activities and providing technical leadership, guidance, training, and recommendations. Plans, prioritizes, and manages the work of the functional group. Leads projects and initiatives. May direct the technical complexities of work and may direct the work of others.  Provides input into team employee performance reviews. Flags performance and personnel issues for manager resolution.
  • Monitors and manages complex scheduling. Troubleshoots batch processing jobs utilizing automated scheduling software in mainframe and open systems environments. Creates and maintains job definitions, interrelationships, and processing calendars.
  • Investigates and works closely with applications and/or technical support staff when error conditions require corrective actions to be taken. Evaluates, recommends, and implements automation and scheduling solutions to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Drives, develops and maintains operational documentation and improvement of procedures, guidelines, standards and templates.
  • Takes ownership of unresolved issues and works through to resolution. Provides effective first, second and third-tier problem recognition, to ensure continuous, uninterrupted service, through troubleshooting, isolation, resolution and self-directed analysis to restore service affecting production control.
  • Performs quality assurance functions by conducting routine operational reviews to ensure performance to operational standards and continuous improvement.  Oversees interaction with company workgroups, internal and external technical service providers, and external business partners to ensure consistent service delivery based on defined service level agreements (SLA’s). If needed, escalates operational issues with service providers, internal and external.
  • Provides leadership to drive and implement process improvements. Follows solution development life cycle (SDLC) process to ensure design and construction of operational support for services provided by information technologies.
  • Performs any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.)
  • Five years of experience in a technology production control operations center role, including technical support of IT systems. 
  • Advanced-level knowledge of client/server, voice and data network, mainframe z/OS operating system and subsystems, applications environments, automated scheduling software and monitoring systems.
  • Experience in risk and production management in the operations environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 
  • Superior organizational skills and excellent communication abilities. 
  • Ability to lead the work of others. 
  • Proven ability to identify conflicts and facilitate resolution.  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Availability to work any shift including holidays in a 24 x 7 x 365 work environment.
