General Purpose

Provide critical support to Berkshire Hathaway Energy Target Zero injury reduction and illness prevention efforts within the Pacific Power territory by optimizing the effectiveness of the Nurse First, job analysis, ergonomics, case management and other occupational health programs. In addition to providing employee care, provide advice and counsel to management within stakeholder departments. Conduct job analyses, develop alternatives and present recommendations to management. Research, analyze, develop and implement new strategies and/or programs in response to changing internal and external conditions. 

Responsibilities

  • Engage with employees and managers in-person, by voice and in writing to discern injury or illness concerns, dispense pre-clinic care recommendations, and complete subsequent case management.
  • Mentor and coach employees regarding personal injury prevention efforts.  
  • Receive Covid-19-related calls and administer company protocols (testing direction, exposure assessment, notifications, isolation/quarantine, and return to work).
  • Collaborate with PacifiCorp occupational health nurse peers on complex case management and occupational health strategy.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and client organizations.
  • Ensure lost time or light duty regimens are efficient and effective in teamwork with Health & Safety management, operations management, Disability Services and other Human Resources personnel.
  • Administer all aspects of the Fitness for Duty program, including coordination and scheduling of FFD tests, management of exceptions and maintenance of records.
  • Assist in documenting CDL medical exams, audiometric results, respirator clearances, functional job analyses, and primary care provider clinic records.
  • Work with health & safety specialists, industrial hygienist, trainers and operations personnel to develop hazard recognition and mitigation procedures.  
  • Provide alternatives and recommendations regarding development or enhancement of programs or processes. 
  • Effectively manage projects; ensure delivery of program commitments. 
     

Requirements

  • Certificate from an accredited Nursing School or Associate degree (A.S.) required. Bachelor’s degree (BSN) from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing or Certificate in Case Management preferred.
  • Currently holding an active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice and eligibility to obtain such licensure in the states of California, Oregon and Washington.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of seven years of professional experience.
  • An understanding and experience with administering a comprehensive occupational health program, program auditing, ergonomics, medical case management, medical surveillance and audiometric testing is essential.  
  • The ability to train and coach all levels of management on occupational health issues is required.  
  • Expectation to cross-train to gain proficiency in Industrial Hygiene and general safety, to become familiar with OSHA regulations, and become knowledgeable in company safety rules and requirements.  
  • Travel to job sites, team meetings and for professional development and networking purposes is required.
