General Purpose

Manages and directs the day to day (24/7) operations of a multi-state bulk electric system (BES) or cross-functional unit, which has a major impact on corporate, business unit, or organizational objectives. Establishes strategic business objectives, strategies, and plans in support of company strategic goals. Manages and allocates financial and employee resources. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and management of employee salaries. Implements and supports company programs and policies. Typically supervises manager-level employees.

Responsibilities

Oversight and management of departments involved in controlling the bulk electric transmission system (grid operations), balance and interchange, energy imbalance market (EIM) operations.
Establish strategic business objectives, strategies, and plans in support of company strategic goals.
Manage and allocate financial and employee resources for the efficient operation of transmission and grid operations.
Develop plans, processes, operating policies, targets, measurements and implement tools to establish best practices for transmission and market operations.

Includes responsibility for development and implementation of technical solutions, engineering guidelines and policies, material specifications, identify and implement advanced technologies integration to electric grid, construction standards and guidelines, and publication of all related handbooks, requirement manuals standards and guidelines relating to engineering, design, constructability, and maintainability of the company’s substation, transmission, distribution and metering system assets. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and management of employee salaries. Implements and supports Company programs and policies. Typically supervises both Manager level employees and all levels of engineers through principal grade.

General Purpose

Provides consultation to the BHE Chief Security Officer (CSO) regarding emerging national and global cyber security threats and mitigation tactics specific to Operational Technologies and supporting networks used by BHE affiliates. Represents the CSO in advising OT leaders on security practices. Provides direction on security requirements for OT technology related projects and coordinates with business operations for advanced security analytics to aid in detecting and mitigating digital network intrusions by comparing and correlating BHE data with externally-furnished information.

Responsibilities

Represent the office of the Chief Security Officer in evaluating relevant technology initiatives and projects for operational technology and process control systems to determine advanced cybersecurity requirements and controls necessary to comply with company policies, standards and industry best practices.
Provide direction, consultation, and collaboration to BHE affiliates on integrating BHE cyber security requirements for all relevant operational technologies and services.
