General Purpose

The regulatory projects manager is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day regulatory projects, regulatory cases and issues that impact multiple jurisdictions.  

This position is accountable as the primary regulatory interface for one or more of the following internal departments: customer service, demand-side management, power delivery/reliability, information technology, blue sky, and other corporate functions.  Externally, this position serves as the primary regulatory interface for various expert witnesses.

Responsibilities

•    Provides support to managers, directors, vice presidents and the senior vice president in regulation.
•    Regulatory interface and project manager for regulatory filings, presentations and testimony at the state regulatory commissions.
•    Manage the day-to-day work related to a major project across all six states and lead the technical team in providing analysis and support to external parties, including regulatory commissions.
•    Coordinate with and support the state regulatory affairs manager on all filings, presentations, and testimony.

Stanton Energy Reliability Center is a unique hybrid power station that includes two GE LM6000 gas turbines, each integrated with a battery energy storage system. The station provides reliable and stable power generation needed by the California power grid.

California has long been a leader in the world’s transition toward renewable energy. In 2018, California established a landmark policy requiring that 100% of electric retail sales to customers in the state be supplied by renewable and zero-carbon energy resources by 2045. The U.S. Energy Information Administration has reported that renewable resources, including hydropower and small-scale (less than one MW) customer-sited solar photovoltaic systems, are already supplying more than half of California’s in-state electricity generation. In March this year, the California Energy Commission (CEC), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and California Air Resources Board (CARB) issued a joint agency report that found the state’s clean energy goals are indeed achievable, and in multiple ways.

A British company announced it is joining with U.S.-based NuScale Power to develop a hybrid project using wind energy and small modular reactor (SMR) technology to produce power and green hydrogen.

Shearwater Energy, a global energy services company, on Jan. 15 said it and NuScale have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on an initial project, which could be sited at the now-decommissioned Wylfa nuclear power station on the island of Anglesey, off the northwestern coast of Wales, although no land agreements have been reached. Shearwater said the project could produce more than 3 million kilograms of green hydrogen annually for use in the UK’s transportation sector.

Shearwater on Friday said that under the MOU, the company and NuScale “will generally explore opportunities for the combined generation of nuclear power based on NuScale’s leading SMR technology, offshore wind energy and hydrogen production at sites in the UK.”…
