  • Lead the day-to-day efforts of assigned audit personnel maintaining internal audit department effectiveness and efficiency objectives through all internal audit project phases.

Direct and oversee the technical engineering resources within the company necessary to support the continued operations, reliability and resiliency improvement of the company’s electric substation, transmission and distribution systems. Includes responsibility for development and implementation of technical solutions, engineering guidelines and policies, material specifications, identify and implement advanced technologies integration to electric grid, construction standards and guidelines, and publication of all related handbooks, requirement manuals standards and guidelines relating to engineering, design, constructability, and maintainability of the company’s substation, transmission, distribution and metering system assets.  Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and management of employee salaries. Implements and supports Company programs and policies. Typically supervises both Manager level employees and all levels of engineers through principal grade.

Applies prescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases of projects and assists other engineering staff on more complex projects. Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the protection and control systems for the company’s transmission and distribution assets.  
 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Engineer I position include:

  • Analyze the protection and control system design, programming, and modification.
  • Develop studies of limited scope and prepare data for cost estimations and analyses.
  • Develop electrical engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and design documents.

A group of U.S. lawmakers has asked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to reconsider that country’s proposed plan to store its nuclear waste at a site near Lake Huron, northeast of Detroit, Michigan.

The site, at Huron-Konloss/South Bruce, in Bruce County, Ontario, is one of two communities chosen by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), which consists of Canada’s nuclear power generating companies and includes Ontario Power Generation, New Brunswick Power Corp., and Hydro-Quebec. The NWMO was established by Canada’s parliament in 2002, and is responsible for designing and implementing the country’s plan for the long-term management of used nuclear fuel.

Bruce County is home to Ontario Power Generation’s Bruce Nuclear Generation Station, the country’s largest nuclear power plant with more than 6 GW of generation capacity. The station, known as Bruce Power, has eight reactors, the most of any operating nuclear station worldwide.…
