General Purpose

The quality assurance program manager leads information technology quality and testing initiatives across Berkshire Hathaway Energy. Establish and implement quality assurance objectives, strategies, and plans. Responsible for program deficiency tracking and reporting. Analyzes deficiencies in service or performance and recommends product or service improvements to address problems. Develop and maintain quality assurance standards for information technology. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and oversee the IT quality assurance strategy, objectives, and standards.
  • Defines test strategy, tools, processes, and timelines for quality assurance of new and existing products and features.
  • Builds, leads and mentors a team of quality assurance engineers, perform reviews, sets objectives and provides coaching to staff.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the project leads and development and architecture teams to establish the process for clear and efficient operations and communications related to the overall quality assurance process.
  • Works with the project team members to ensure business requirements and/or feature documents are clear, concise, traceable, and testable.
  • Audits systems and business test plans and results.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all program stakeholders including IT, business partners and vendors.
  • Drive and ensure timely resolution of all testing escalations & alignment with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure all QA resources are adhering to BHE quality system standards.
  • Drive ongoing continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and cost.
  • Track and report defects across internal and vendor systems.
  • Define common tools platform for test delivery.
  • Establish, maintain, and prioritize the development of automated testing.
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related business or technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically, eight years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.) 
  • Four years of information technology, project management or testing experience, including one year in a senior technical/leadership role. 
  • Expertise and experience in testing strategy and testing technics. 
  • Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of supporting agile project teams. Including experience testing within an Agile environment.
  • Understanding of testing automation on a conceptual level. 
  • Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 
  • Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors. Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills. 
  • General understanding of IT operating and capital investment budgets. Understanding of company’s existing IT environment and of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.

 

In addition to the above, the Mid-level requirements include: 

  • Six years of information technology, project management or testing experience.

Hiring Range: $ 113,100 to $ 152,700. 
This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15 – 20% of salary.
