General Purpose

Provides routine and non-routine operational weather forecasts to the utility. Supports the utility’s Emergency Operations Center during activations, respond to after-hours emergency events, and perform data analysis. Works closely with members of the internal meteorology team to help improve operational forecasting methods and models. Contributes to projects that improve operational decision-making during significant weather events. Analyzes a wide range of meteorological data to provide continuously updated weather information from a variety of sources to better manage the impacts of weather on the electric distribution and transmission system to identified vulnerabilities. Responsible for preparing and disseminating daily, weekly, and long term seasonal weather forecasts products, advisories, and warnings concerning a number of hazardous weather conditions, such as severe weather, fire danger, high winds, flash floods, and winter storms to support T&D system operations and generation operations.

Research the job and the employer

If you are not provided with a detailed interviewing agenda, inquire as to whether you will have a single interview, a series of interviews or a panel.  Research the interviewer(s) on LinkedIn and through your professional network.  If you are working with an independent recruiter, include them in your preparation process to maximize your success.  Ask about the company, the culture, the interviewers, what they’re really looking for, expected attire and any other pertinent information they will share.
