The UK’s Jan. 11, 2024–released nuclear roadmap proposes a new approach to siting of new nuclear after 2025. Of its eight nuclear sites, only two sites in the country—Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C—have been granted development consent. “This does not leave enough viable sites to meet our nuclear ambitions, and new generations of nuclear technology (SMR and AMR) are likely to be deployed more fexibly. In practice, we need all the possible nuclear sites to be used for nuclear, in order to meet our power needs,” the roadmap says. Source: UK government

General Purpose

To assist in the development of engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the companyÂ’s transmission and distribution system.

Responsibilities

•    Assist company engineers in performing engineering studies and analysis of substation equipment, protection & control equipment, transmission structures & hardware, and distribution equipment.
•    Develop moderately complex engineering studies of limited scope and prepare data for analysis.
•    Perform electrical network data analysis and present results to company staff.
•    Conduct drawing reviews to ensure adherence to company and industry standards.
•    Research and test equipment provided by suppliers
•    Update company standards and drawings
•    Analyze the system design, programming, and modification. 

Requirements

•    Enrolled full time in accredited engineering college/university.
•    Sophomore standing or higher in electrical/mechanical/civil engineering or a related field. 
•    Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams. 
•    Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.

General Purpose

The GIS Specialist position ensures that As-Builts are mapped into the facility and GIS based connectivity mapping systems after construction completes. As well as providing support on various data cleanup projects, responding to inquiries, internal and external data requests, and regulatory requests. Responsible for updating the mapping and connectivity systems using redlines and other information that comes back from the field, engineering, or dispatch.  Position requires a good understanding of electrical distribution systems or other utility network based systems in addition to a strong knowledge of distribution utility design and GIS fundamentals.

Responsibilities

•    Receives, tracks, and fulfills both internal and external spatial data and map requests.
•    Prepares PDF map products for annual regulated facility inspection programs, engineers, and various departments. 
•    Editing and maintaining spatial data in an enterprise GIS environment.
