General Purpose

May function as the lead for all human resource related technology implementations including SAP to Oracle transition. Conducts analysis through research, gathering and interpretation of data, development of alternatives and recommendations. Presents analysis and recommendations to management and may implement selected alternative. Manage moderately complex projects/assignments with a considerable corporate and/or business unit impact. Provides analysis and feasibility studies, establishes project goals, negotiates timelines/schedules, and develops project plans.

Responsibilities

•    Manage moderately complex projects; research, track, and report on initiatives.
•    Ensure deliverables are completed in accordance to the PacifiCorp Project Governance and Standards.
•    Develops a change management strategy for business transformation initiatives.  Ensure that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all changes.
•    Assesses change readiness and change impacts throughout the organization.
•    May perform system maintenance, including review, test and roll out of the HR system.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has put communities on lockdown and created a need for social distancing. Many are staying at home, but that’s not an option for the frontline workers running critical power transmission infrastructure and keeping the lights on.

How can utilities keep up with their operational and safety obligations with a reduced onsite workforce? Specifically, how can utilities maintain power line inspection and maintenance regimes, and what are the additional challenges for those in areas such as California, where COVID-19 collides with other threats, such as wildfire season?

By definition, power transmission and distribution networks deal with long distances. At the best of times power line inspection entails despatching crews into the most remote pockets of a country or state, far from major population centres.
